Wednesday Evenings During Advent
Wednesday, December 20th
ADVENT—the word means “coming” or “arrival” and in the church it refers to the coming of Christ. Advent is a time to prepare ourselves for the coming of the Messiah. But it is so easy to get “wrapped up” in the coming of lots of other things in this season--some of which are connected to Christ’s birth and some which aren’t. So the intention of Advent is to reorient us back to what matters most. We can do that in many ways, of course, but one of the prime ways is through setting aside time to worship and to learn what the birth of the Christ child means for us.
So this Advent in addition to Sunday morning worship, we will look with new eyes at three normal people through whom the Lord worked his miracle at Christmas---Zechariah, father of John the Baptist, Mary, the mother of Jesus and Joseph, “step-father” of Jesus.
The final Advent study will be on Wednesday, December 20, at 6:45pm. (You can come to share a meal at 6:11pm or just come to the study.) We will gather for informal worship first then Bible study. Come and discover how God wants to work in your life!
